Some Results of Field Experiments to Test Lime and Phosphogypsum for Aluminium Amelioration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since 1985 two series of field trials have been conducted or established to assess the value of lime and phosphogypsum for the amelioration of aluminium toxicity. The first series considered their use on weak, coastal sandy soils and the secondconcerned their use on midlands' acid soils with high clay and organic matter contents and under the minimum tillage system. On weak sandy soils the overriding limitingfactorto sugarcane growth wasshown to be parasitic nematodes, and there was little if any response to the application of lime and/or phosphogypsum. In the second series on acid soils there has, to date, been little evidence of responses to lime or phosphogypsum applied as surface, shallow or deep incorporated treatments. Varietal differences may playa role in explaining the lack of response to lime.

Suitability of Flyash-Lime-Phosphogypsum Composite in Road Pavements
The paper presents the suitability of flyash-limephosphogypsum composite for its use in road pavements. The content of lime and phosphogypsum was varied from 2 to 10% and 0.5 to 4% respectively in flyash. The specimen prepared was cured for 7, 28, 56 and 90 days with burlap method of curing. Compaction tests were conducted on different flyash-lime-phosphogypsum composite and these results were ...

This paper presents the effect of sisal fibers on the unconfined compressive strength of bentonite. The present study is aimed at determining the behavior of bentonite-lime-phosphogypsum reinforced with sisal fibers in a random manner. The sisal fiber content was varied from 0.5 to 2 %. The results indicated that the unconfined compressive strength of bentonite can be increased by the addition ...
متن کاملAmelioration of Subsurface Acidity in Sandy Soils in Low Rainfall Regions. II. Changes to Soil Solution Composition Following the Surface Application of Gypsum and Lime
Two field trials were sampled to investigate the changes to soil solution chemical properties of a yellow sandplain soil with an acidic subsoil following the application of gypsum and lime to the soil surface in 1989. The soils were sandy textured and located in a region of low annual rainfall (300-350 mm). Soil was sampled annually to a depth of 1 m and changes in soil solution composition wer...

This study introduced a method based on magnetic field assisted finishing mechanism for micromachining the inner surfaces of Aluminum tubes. In this approach, using the alternating magnetic field of an AC electromotor, abrasive particles were formed as Magnetic Rods (Magnetic Clusters) and surface micromachining was carried out by the dynamic particular pattern made by an alternating magnetic f...
متن کاملImpact of Amendments on the Physical Properties of Soil under Tropical Long-Term No Till Conditions
Tropical regions have been considered the world's primary agricultural frontier; however, some physico-chemical deficiencies, such as low soil organic matter content, poor soil structure, high erodibility, soil acidity, and aluminum toxicity, have affected their productive capacity. Lime and gypsum are commonly used to improve soil chemical fertility, but no information exists about the long-te...
